Party Game Ideas
Feeling game
Collect about 10 boxes before the party, approx shoe box size, cut a hole in the top big enough to get your hand in, then number the boxes so you know which is which. Then place a different object in each box. Blindfold the players, and get them to put their hand in the box one at a time and guess what they are feeling. You could use: cotton wool, fruit, uncooked pasta, playdough, toy spider, marbles, etc. The list is endless.
What time is it Mr Wolf?
The child who is Mr Wolf has to stand at one end of the room facing away from all the others. The children creep up on the wolf shouting "what time is it Mr Wolf?" Mr Wolf shouts back 1 o'clock, half past 3, 7 o'clock etc. but when he shouts "dinner time" all the children run. The one caught then becomes the wolf, and so on.
Hot potato
Have all the players sit in a circle. Quickly pass a potato from player to player. Then a leader whilst looking away shouts out "Hot Potato", and whoever is holding the potato is out. Continue to play until there is only one person left, and they are the winner.
Childrens Party Games & Ideas
Are you planning a birthday party and can't decide what to do?
Here are a number of great party games as well as some creative activities to help keep those little guests entertained and create a fun-filled party to remember.
Themed Parties
Its great for your kids if they can help with the organising of the party, so the best kind of party to get your child involved in, is to have a themed party that revolves around an idea or interest that they have. Your child will have loads of ideas and know exactly what they want to do and how things should look.
Organising a themed party does take a little longer in the planning but it will be well worth it when everyone has had a great time and nobody wants to go home. By having a themed party will also determine what kind of party games to play and which activities to do. You can also buy many party supplies in themes, such as tableware balloons and party invitations etc. Below are a couple of party theme idea including themed things to do and games to play.
Pirate theme party
Find the buried treasure, walk the plank and have a cannon ball fight plus loads more. A pirate themed birthday party is a great party idea for any adventurous little ship mate. You could start by making the invitations, how about a treasure map to your house. For that authentic look, take a sheet of white paper and tear some of the edges, then rub it with a wet tea bag to age it. Once dry either draw or print a map onto the paper leaving some space to write out your invitation. Then roll it up and tie some ribbon around it. Decorate your table with Gold Chocolate Coins and Jolly Roger Pirate Flags, use red, black and white Balloons and get the kids to draw skull and cross bones on them. Finish the table with matching pirate tableware. For pirate themed games you could have a Treasure Hunt. Paint some small boxes (old shoe boxes etc) to look like treasure chests, then fill them with, Costume Jewellery, Games and Puzzles. Then make some pirate place mats containing instructions and clues to find your treasure chests hidden in either the house or garden. Divide the children into groups and distribute the clues. Each clue should take them to a spot with another clue, keep following the clues until they finally find all the treasure. Another fun thing to do is to make all the children Walk the Plank. Raise a 4" wide plank on a couple of bricks and place a small children's paddling pool underneath. Put in some water and a few inflatable crocodiles, then the children take turns walking across the plank without falling off. If they manage to get to the end without falling in the water they get a Gold Chocolate Coin as a small prize. To make it more challenging throw balloons at them as they try to cross. Another favourite is to have a Cannon Ball Fight. If the weather is nice you could use "water bombs" or you could make some simple balls by scrupling up paper. Divide the children into 2 groups, give each group a large bucket or laundry basket, the children then throw equal amounts of balls at each other and when all balls have been thrown the group with the most balls in the other groups bucket is the winner. Other activities could include Face Painting and Pirate Tattoos, a Pirate Pinata is also loads of fun!. And finally when its time for everybody to go home why not save loads of time and money and hand out to every child one of our Pirate Lookie Boxes. Have a great party!
Princess theme party
Find the kings treasure, kiss the frog and have a royal ball. Enchanting party games and ideas to create the perfect party for your little princess. First of all make some invitations, take some card and cut out the shape of a tiara or you could make a paper scroll and tie it with satin ribbon. Add flare by writing your invitations with a gold or silver pen and make sure you use plenty of sparkling glitter. Decorate the table using pink, gold and silver, finish the look with Princess Tableware and Balloons tied down with a weight in the centre of the table and lots of Princess Confetti, Glitter and Streamers. A selection of princess games are a must so get everyone in the mood with a game of "Find the Kings Treasure". Paint 2 small boxes to look like treasure chests, then hide Gold Chocolate Coins, Tiara's and Costume Jewellery around the home and garden. Divide the children into two groups and tell them that the Kings treasure has been scattered through out the land by some mischievous pixies. They must find the treasure and place it back into their treasure chest. The group with the most treasure wins the contents of both treasure chests. Another game guaranteed to get lots of laughs is "Kiss the frog". Draw a frog on a large piece of card. Cut some lip shapes out of red card and add some double sided sticky tape or blu tac to one side. On the other side write down the girls names. Each guest is blindfolded in turn, you then spin them around 3 times, then they have to stick their lips on the frog. The one who has stuck their lips closest to the frogs mouth is the winner. Also a princess party is not complete without a royal ball. Hopefully your guests will have come all dressed for the occasion in their princess outfits, however if not provide a box with some dress-up clothes, fabric and ribbons as well as a load of children's lipstick, blush and eye shadow so all the little princess can prepare for the ball.
Play some royal ball music and let the girls dance and twirl to their hearts delight! Other activities could include Face Painting and having fun with a Princess Pinata. And one final thing, when its time for all those little princess's to return to their own castles why not save time and money and hand out a Princess Lookie Box to every child. have a wonderful party.
